DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES (DSS)

"At any point in time the Department of Social Services (DSS) is working with from 150 - 190 children in foster care. Since DSS investigates about 120 cases per month that number can rise at any time. There are also families receiving long term in home services. Those are the children and families that WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. serves."

Direct requests came from DSS for the many special needs that are not covered by public funds

Public Funds are not available for many of the Support Services DSS would like to provide.

That's where WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. steps in to help.

Meeting those unmet needs is in addition to the four major initiatives that WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. manages and supports.

More than 30 children attended summer camps in 2021 at a cost of just over $6,000. It seems that in 2022 even more children will be sponsored into camps.

Camps include swim lessons, horseback riding, basketball skills academy, surfing lessons, and cheerleading among other type camps.

When children attend those camps we receive comments back through the social workers about how much the children become self confident, more sociable, and have even developed control over impulsive behaviors.
