"The average number of foster children The Department of Social Services (DSS) in Brunswick County was working during February was 186.

Because DSS investigates about 100 cases per month that number can rise at any time. There are also families receiving long term in home services. WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. also serves those families."

The Department of Social Services in Brunswick County has received over 100 reports of child abuse or neglect every month so far in 2020.

The number of children entering into the care of DSS each month in 2020 has averaged in the mid 70's.

DSS investigate  every reported case and determines which children should be protected by going to Foster Homes or receive assistance from the In Home Services capability of Child Protective Services.

There have been over 170 children under the care of DSS at the end of each month in 2020.

The mission of WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. is to raise funds

to assure, if public funds are not available, that

children under the care of the Department of Social

Services, or other children in difficult situations, in

Brunswick County will be provided resources and

services, based on financial need, to meet their

health, educational, and social welfare needs.

Since the creation of WAVES 4 K.I.D.S.  in 2004 , the organization has received donations that are used to provide vital support including medical and dental care, daycare , scholarships, clothing, school supplies and much more.  In addition to donating money we are always seeking help in other ways.
