"The average number of foster children The Department of Social Services (DSS) in Brunswick County was working with has increased year over year.
Because DSS investigates about 120 cases per month that number can rise at any time. There are families receiving long term in home services in an attempt to keep children from going into the foster care program. WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. serves those families too."

page for more details.
The Department of Social Services in Brunswick County has received over 120 reports of child abuse or neglect every month so far in 2021.
DSS investigate every reported case and determines which children should be protected by going to Foster Homes or receive assistance from the In Home Services capability of Child Protective Services.
The mission of WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. is to raise funds
to assure, if public funds are not available, that
children under the care of the Department of Social
Services, or other children in difficult situations, in
Brunswick County will be provided resources and
services, based on financial need, to meet their
health, educational, and social welfare needs.
Since the creation of WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. in 2004 , the organization has received donations that are used to provide vital support including medical and dental care, daycare , scholarships, clothing, school supplies and much more. In addition to donating money we are always seeking help in other ways.
